Single ply solution supplied for mansard roof at Marwood Tower

  • 7 Nov 2016

Protan EX-A, an adhered single ply membrane, has been used in conjunction with Protan’s Omega profile to form the roof of Marwood Tower, one of the major arterial routes into Liverpool.

Developed by Liverpool Mutual Homes in partnership with Willmott Dixon Housing, Marwood Tower is being refurbished, with a two storey extension in place to provide 81 apartments for 55s as well as a courtyard garden, bowling green and outdoor gym.

The building’s mansard roof, that wraps around the two-storey block surrounding the courtyard, has been created using a single ply membrane supplied by Protan.

Range Roofing, the project’s sub contractor, used 1,700m2 of Protan EX-A membrane with the company’s Omega profile to form the roof, accommodating the 79 degree mansard, 11 degree main roof area and the walkways within the courtyard.

Protan EX-A was specified for its smooth finish and for its cost-effectiveness, whilst still delivering optimum performance.

The polyester reinforced PVC membrane features an insulating polyester fleece laminated to its underside and has an anti-slip surface, providing additional safety if being installed in wet conditions.

It is the only Protan system that uses adhesives and is certified to ≤ -30°C and proven in practice to last 30+ years.
