Blackpool Carers has benefited from a recent refurbishment, which was undertaken by BBC’s DIY SOS. IKO PLC provided replacement roofing products for use in the ambitious project.

DIY SOS: Million Pound Build for BBC Children in Need documented the programme’s most ambitious refurbishment project to date.

Members of the community joined over 200 skilled tradesmen and DIY SOS’s ‘Purple Shirts’ team to transform Blenheim House, a derelict Victorian house which is owned by the charity, into a fully-functioning Young Carer’s facility.

The project, which was designed by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, saw the transformation of the space into a warm and welcoming centre for children and young people in need.

The show was aired on Thursday 17th November.

IKO PLC donated a range of roofing materials for use in the project via its distributor, North West Roofing Supplies.

Rolls of Challenger pour-and-roll sand-surfaced membrane and Perforated Sand venting underlay were delivered for use in the renovation of Blenheim House; the centre’s roof was in dire need of repair

Blackpool Carers receives funding from BBC Children in Need, in order to provide out-of-school respite and training activities for young people with caring responsibilities. The centre also offers valued peer support.
