Hardwood flooring manufacturer Atkinson & Kirby is encouraging more businesses to ‘keep British manufacturing alive’.
The manufacturing industry contributes an estimated £6.7tr to the global economy, with the United Kingdom ranking as the 11th largest manufacturing nation in the world, employing 2.6m people.
Situated in Oswestry and Chirk, North Wales, Atkinson & Kirby has recognised that people prefer purchasing British made products to imports. In fact, according to recent statistics 43 percent of UK adults said they would pay more money for a product that was manufactured in Britain, citing higher quality, product durability and wider choice as key factors.
To meet these expectations, Atkinson & Kirby emphasised that companies must stay on top of the latest design trends and offer the consumer market new and unique products to suit multiple styles.
In the past year, design trends in flooring have seen a shift towards wooden floors as opposed to laminate. In particular, the popularity of contemporary styled oak flooring has soared, whilst sales have also increased for wider and longer boards. Herringbone styles have also seen a further rise in popularity due to the flexibility and ease of installation.
Supplied with a suitable wear layer, Atkinson & Kirby flooring allows the end user to easily return the floor to its original state time after time.
The company also provides a ‘specials service’ for clients who require more bespoke options, in addition to a matching service, whereby the exact colour and type of flooring can be matched and produced in a matter of weeks. The has been used most recently at the Museum of Scotland, at which Atkinson & Kirby replicated the original red oak flooring.
