The Edible Bus Stop has grown into an award winning Landscape Architecture and Design Consultancy, six years after its first urban intervention.
It has been recognised for being provocative and playful in its methodology due to its use of a multidisciplinary approach. Ecobuild has invited the organisation to showcase one of its most successful sculptural products this March (7th-9th) at ExCeL London.
A previously unseen prototype of the double yellow line series will join the Double Yellow Line Bench and Tree Guard. These pieces of sculptural street furniture will both be part of a product line in development.
The arena will be home to the Ecobuild conference, sponsored by Regeneration Partner Skanska and both pieces will be showcased directly in front of the Arena.
Designer of the Double Yellow Line sculptural street furniture and The Edible Bus Stop’s Creative Director, Will Sandy, said that the practice illustrates how spaces that often go unnoticed can be transformed through clever design.
The Green Infrastructure Seminar will feature a presentation from the Edible Bus Stop in ‘The Gateway’ on March 9th at 14:45hrs, discussing the team’s success in working with public sector and private organisations to engage with communities using playful design and inclusive events.
Founding Director of the Edible Bus Stop, Mak Gilehrist, said that the company believe in the power of design led initiatives to create meaningful legacies or positive change in urban regeneration and the methods of transforming challenging spaces into active places will be discussed in the presentation.
The Edible Bus Stop is a great example of an organisation that provides its clients with creative, imaginative and sustainable solutions to architecture and design – which is what Ecobuild is all about, according to Martin Hurn, Brand Director at Ecobuild.
Providing an interface between the client and those that live, work and play in each individual area, The Edible Bus Stop adopts a collaborative approach, working with new and existing communities. It aims to create platforms for conversation and engagement, and transform spaces into design led active places in both permanent and temporary settings, inspiring a wider audience to engage in social and environmental issue.
The Edible Bus Stop implements an intern recycling system within its practice re-using and repurposing materials where possible throughout its projects – in line with Ecobuild’s ambition to be a 100% waste free show.
