Abloy Uk is advising that remote sites are secured by companies and the risk of substantial fines using innovative new access control technology is minimised.
The advice comes following Thames Water’s recent fine of over £20m for polluting the River Thames with 1.4 billion litres of raw sewage. When alarms were raised signalling that sites were unmanned and Thames Water was functioning with reduced operational resources, they were not immediately attended to.
The PROTEC2 CLIQ system with CLIQ Connect from Abloy allows access to be granted remotely, preventing events like this and allowing incidents to be quickly dealt with. The system enables users to remotely manage disparate or large electronic master-keyed sites, and allows lost or stolen keys to be invalidated, assuring secure key management, as well as providing audit trails on locks and padlocks
Keys can be activated through a smartphone, using Bluetooth 4.0 technology, making it flexible, time-efficient and simple to use remote access control. The system offers a solution for a variety of sectors, ideal for organisations with numerous people visiting remote sites.
Steve Wintle, Head of CNI at Abloy UK explained that the CLIQ Connect can act as a secondary confirmation, by de-centralising the authentication of access, and access and actions can be double checked preventing costly incidents such as this.
