Dulux Trade has announced the winners of its highly acclaimed Select Decorator Awards at a ceremony held at Belton Woods Hotel in Lincolnshire.
The competition was open to members of the Dulux Select Decorator Scheme and required entrants to submit details of their best projects, complemented with statements from their clients. Winners receive up to £1,500 in Bonusbond vouchers and a Dulux-accredited accolade.
Winners should showcase the best workmanship, product knowledge and project management skills in the industry. A panel of painting and decorating experts from the Dulux Academy, Dulux Colour Team and Professional Team judged the entries.
The annual competition has been running since 2009 and has supported and championed highly skilled painters and decorators that take the utmost pride in their work.
Senior Brand Manager at Trade Marketing UK, Becky Davidson, said: “As well as showing untiring dedication to providing the best possible experience for their customers, all of our winners this year have demonstrated exceptional technical skills that have helped transform spaces in their own unique ways.”
Peter Smith was awarded the prize for ‘Interior Project costing over £3,000’ category, but also the accolade of overall Grand Winner for his project on behalf of a long-standing client.
Peter was completing the decoration work of the dining room of a large Victorian building restoration. Peter worked alongside builders and other tradesmen in order to prepare the room before the extensive paintwork and wallpapering could commence.
For his winning entry, Anthony was enlisted to apply the finishing touches to a project spanning almost 11 years to convert a former 1840s Parish Council Building and School. The homeowner had conducted research into the building in order to do justice to its heritage and required a decorator capable of doing the same.
Andrew Sheasby completed the redecoration of a living room for a new customer following a recommendation, for his award-winning entry. The project meant significant preparation work to both the walls and woodwork before the wallpaper application and paintwork.
The second winner in this category was Martin Connor who was approached about his winning job after the homeowners saw the high standard of the work he had completed on a nearby new housing development. Thoroughly impressed by his quality finish, the homeowners tasked Martin with the renovation of their hall, stairs and landing and were not disappointed.
