SE Controls has been shortlisted for this year’s Local Authority Building Control (LABC) West of England Building Excellence Awards, praised for its contribution to Crest Nicholson’s transformation of the former Bristol Electricity Board building.
The Grade II listed building, which was originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, has been converted into ‘Electricity House’, a residential development comprising 85 luxury apartments.
Developed by Crest Nicholson, Electricity House incorporates a smoke ventilation from SE Controls. Designed to improve safety in the event of a fire, the system enables smoke to be vented from the main atrium to ensure the building’s escape routes are kept clear.
The company’s contribution has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Change of Use or Conversion of an existing building’ category at the upcoming LABC Awards.
The winners will be judged and announced at a presentation event , scheduled to take place on 14th July at the Bristol Marriott Hotel. The successful entrants will be put forward to London’s Grand Final on 10th November.
