Working with specialist distributor Nevill Long, Armstrong Ceiling Solutions has delivered a cost-effective solution to the new sports centre at Tisbury Community Campus in Wiltshire.
The new sports hall, designed by architects Kendall Kingscott, has been built in replacement of an old leisure centre. It is connected to the rear of the main campus facility, via which it can be accessed.
Overall, the project comprises a mix of refurbishment and new build to bring a range of service onto a single site: in addition to the sports and fitness suite, the campus offers library services, neighbourhood policing and schooling for over 16s. There is also provision for a local pre-school provider to be accommodated on site.
The existing fabric was upgraded to enhance thermal performance; all existing glazing was also replaced. A biomass heating system has been implemented, as part of Wiltshire Council’s commitment to ensuring the new campus’ carbon output achieves 40% over current benchmark figures.
Armstrong supplied a cost-effective ceiling solution for new sports hall development. Distributor Nevill Long, which has worked with Armstrong for 55 years, was chosen for the project by specialist sub-contractor, GHT,.
As a result, Armstrong’s Metal T Clip F grid system was fitted across a 700 square metre space, creating a monolithic ceiling inside the new sports hall at Tisbury Campus. The downwards, demountable solution offers easy access to the ceiling void.
In addition, 120 square metres of the company’s anti-microbial BioGuard boards were fitted in the toilets and changing rooms, whilst its Sierra OP laminated mineral boards were specified for other areas of the building to assist with sound absorption.
