N&C Glass has invested over £250,000 in new manufacturing equipment, in response to an increase in demand for shaped Pilkington fire glass.
The Beckton-based company supplies specialist fire-resistant, safety and security glass, as well as sealed units, to a range of commercial and independent glaziers. Its products are produced at its on-site manufacturing facilities, and circulated through its own distribution network.
In recent months, N&C Glass has noted an increase in demand for fire-resistant glass in an array of shapes and sizes. Fire-resistant glass plays a critical role in protecting buildings, and customers are keen to specify aesthetically-pleasing products to meet certain design criteria.
To accommodate this trend, the company has invested a quarter of a million pounds in its manufacturing processes in a bid to deliver a complex product that meets both design and high-performance requirements.
The company has introduced a piece of waterjet cutting equipment to its manufacturing facility, along with a new vertical saw. This will enable N&C to produce straight edged panels with more complex, non-linear shapes.
Since investing in the equipment, N&C has more than doubled its output of cut to size glass, while effectively reducing lead times for its customers.
As a result, it has more than doubled its output of cut to size glass, while also reducing lead times for customers.
N&C Glass stocks fire glass products from Pilkington, such as the Pilkington Pyrostop and Pilkington Pyrodur.
