Going for gold with CMS Window Systems

  • 21 Nov 2017

CMS Window Systems have fine reason to celebrate, as the company picked up the Gold award in the International Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice 2017.

The company, one of Scotland’s leading window, door and curtain walling designers, installers and fabricators, was presented with the award at the presentation ceremony held at the House of Parliament.

This recognised its success regarding environmental sustainability, joining a whole host of big name previous winners that include BAM Nuttall, Balfour Beatty and Kier.

CMS’ ‘closed-loop’ approach makes them unique in the fenestration industry. This method guarantees it recycles post-use windows and doors and replaces them with completely recyclable, high quality products designed to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and also lower their carbon footprint.

Two newly appointed directors were on hand to collect the award; Gerald McSkimming and Craig Reid (centre and right of feature photo respectively).

Alongside the pair in the photo is Michael Cooke, ex MP for Leicester and previously Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute for Environmental Health.

Gerald works as Operations Director, bringing more than 25 years of experience to the role from a wide range of manufacturing industries, whilst Craig, appointed as PVC Contracts Director, can count former roles including senior positions within the building interiors, fit-out, washrooms sectors and facilities management.

Both have joined the team as part of the expansion of its senior management team, as the business grows its trade and retail market operations.

Managing Director at CMS Window Systems, Andy Kerr, commented: “We’re delighted to win Gold in the International Green Apple Awards and to welcome Gerald and Craig to the business.

“Winning this award is a tremendous achievement given the excellent calibre of the other entrants and it encourages us even more to continuously develop our sustainable business practices to do what we do even better.”

CMS Window Systems, in light of winning a Green Apple Award, will have 100 trees planted in its name, as part of the United Nations Billion Trees initiative, and as well as this, will be invited to represent the UK in next year’s Green World Awards.

On top of all this, the company has also been invited to have its winning paper published in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so others around the world can learn from its environmental sustainability strategy.
