Carbon monoxide detector is crucial for preventing poisoning at home

  • 23 Jan 2014

The only way to detect the gas efficiently is with a carbon monoxide alarm, such as the FireAngel detector, which is used to warn occupants of low levels of CO early on before the gas becomes life threatening.

The following signs could indicate that there is carbon monoxide in your home:

• If you are using a gas appliance, it should have a crisp blue flame, such as a pilot light. If it turns to a lazy orange flame, the appliance may not be working correctly and should be checked.
• Black soot marks or dark staining on or around gas fire burners or on walls near cookers, boilers or gas fires.
• Pilot lights that frequently blow out.
• Excessive condensation in the room where the appliance is installed.
