Painting and coatings brand, Crown Paints, has opened its latest Crown Decorating Centre (CDC) in Barrow-in-Furness. The new store, which has created four new jobs, is designed to be a one-stop destination for both tradespeople and at-home DIYers.
To celebrate the launch and emphasise its commitment to the local community, Crown Decorating Centres has partnered with specialist care provider Creative Support, which has an office in Barrow. The not-for-profit organisation helps to promote the independence, inclusion and wellbeing of people with care and support needs all over the country.
The CDC has provided a donation of 100 litres of paint and some sundries, which will be used to help transform one of the group’s residential homes in the local area.
Located at Phoenix Court Business Park, the store will be the first of its kind in the area, providing extensive in-house colour expertise, with guides and resources on how colour can be used in different rooms and against various lighting.
Barrow-in-Furness was chosen as the location for the new CDC due to demand for a quality trade essentials and decorating equipment retailer in the area. The opening will mark the first of several CDCs set to open in the UK this year.
To mark the launch, the CDC is also offering all customers 30% off their first purchase* across its range of products, which include interior and exterior paints and wallpaper, as well as decorating supplies and equipment from Crown Paints and other leading brands.
The new store will also offer the hugely popular Can Back recycling scheme, where people can return any branded old paint cans to be recycled responsibly. The scheme recycled more than half a million cans last year through CDCs. The store will also recycle decorative plastic through its Plastic Back scheme – the first of its kind among the popular paint brands.
Located on Phoenix Court, Phoenix Road, Barrow-in-Furness, the store will be open from 7am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am to 2pm on Saturdays.
Linda King, Project Manager at Creative Support, comments: “We’re thrilled to welcome Crown Decorating Centres into the local community and we are so grateful for their generous donation.
“Their support will allow us to completely transform one of our Barrow residential homes, providing a much-needed makeover and creating a fresh and inviting new space for our residents.
“We were also delighted to be able to attend the store opening and pass on our thanks in person.”
Tony Denby, Store Manager at CDC Barrow, said: “It’s been fantastic to finally open our doors and welcome customers into our Crown Decorating Centre. The response we’ve already had from customers and the wider community has been fantastic.
“Our new Centre offers the largest range of trade product in the area – and, with a free next day delivery service, colour match service, and extensive specialist knowledge, we’re excited to bring something new to the people of Barrow.”
