Crown Paints in Hull is celebrating after beating off stiff competition to be the recipient of the Coatings Care Progress Award at the annual British Coatings Federation (BCF) conference.
The Crown Paints site at Medina Park received the award in recognition of its hard work, which has seen continuous improvements over several focus areas, including the health and welfare of employees, safe processes, and the creation of a sustainable environment.
Members of the Crown Paints leadership team took to the stage to collect the award at the black-tie event at Manchester’s Mercure Hotel.
The evening became a joint celebration as Crown Paints Darwen was also named a finalist for the same award, offering further recognition for the team at the Lancashire site.
Judges choose a winner by benchmarking all applicants against 45 KPIs, with the award going to the company making the most significant year-on-year improvement in performance.
Pete Waites, Technical Director at Crown Paints, comments: “We are absolutely thrilled for Crown Paints Hull to receive such prestigious industry recognition.
“A special mention is also needed for our Darwen site for also being named as a finalist. It is, in fact the eighth year-in-a-row that Crown Paints has been shortlisted for this award.
“It’s such a great achievement and reflects all of the hard work that has gone in to continuing to make significant progress and improvements across our sites.
“To have also achieved this during a year that has seen extremely high demand in the industry, as well as COVID restrictions, is even more impressive.”
The British Coatings Federation (BCF) is the sole UK Trade Association representing the interests of the decorative, industrial and powder coatings, printing inks and wallcovering manufacturers.
