GEO Business has announced the Main Stage line–up in the lead up to the 2022 edition of the show, which returns to ExCeL London from 18-19 May.
Visitors can look forward to learning from top-tier speakers in geospatial, to address the profession’s biggest issues – from sustainability, inclusivity and mental health to GIS, digital twins and augmented reality.
Here are just a few highlights from the Main Stage at GEO Business this year…
In Rethinking inclusion and diversity; how diverse thought leads to sustainable business objectives, Black Geographers director Francisca Rockey will sit down with three advocates from Jacobs: Vida Williams, Rebecca Scott and Kevin Humphreys. Together they will discuss and debate how to accept, celebrate and harness our differences. Join the conversation to learn how diverse thinking can create a culture of innovation in your workplace.
Continuing this theme, The geospatial golden thread: ensuring equitable, inclusive and sustainable innovation will reveal key findings from new research, featuring contributions from Google, OS, the Geospatial Commission, the GLA, 1Spatial and Geovation. The interactive roundtable will unpack the potential of geospatial data to solve the biggest social, economic and ecological challenges facing the planet – from Covid to levelling up, from climate change to national security.
Plus, Luca Budello, Geospatial Lead for KTN Innovation UK will share valuable insights into the new report on the interaction between geospatial data and the fight against climate change in Meeting Net Zero with the Power of Place – Where location intelligence meets the fight against climate change. Following on from COP26, Luca will show how location data can help build a more connected and autonomous world for a more resilient and prosperous future.
Visitors can learn how Hexagon Geosystems is exploring the metaverse in What place does #realitycapture technology have in creating an immersive and accurate metaverse experience? In this session, Scanning Solutions Manager Paul Burrows will explain how digital-reality spaces and experiences can provide a higher sense of presence and engagement and improve collaboration and productivity.
Several more future-facing sessions are set to take to the Main Stage, courtesy of big-name speakers such as Dr Jason Hopkins from Ordnance Survey, Dr Andrew Veal from the Met Office, Helen Markides from Greater London Authority, Ben Gilson from Arup, Davina Goodchild from LionHeart, Christian Compton from Atkins and Dimitrina Pironkova-Teofilova from SKANSKA UK.
