  • 1 Mar 2022

Pop Up Power Supplies have been tasked with providing power solutions for the many outdoor and cultural events that take place along London’s famous South Bank.

The South Bank is a dynamic area of entertainment and is an important commercial district in central London, at the heart of London’s cultural scene. Situated beside the River Thames, the Southbank is home to the National Theatre, the Southbank Centre and BFI film theatre.

The riverside walk is tree lined and packed with many restaurants, historic pubs and cafes. It is also the site of frequent fairs and events. Few locations can offer such a unique experience with a stroll along the South Bank offering the sights of Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral and the London Eye.

The pedestrianised embankment is The Queen’s Walk. Here, Pop Up Power Supplies supplied one of its PUPS01 retractable power units. Durable and robust, these units are manufactured in stainless steel AISI304 and have an epoxy-polyester powder finish.

The tops of PUPS01 units are available in stainless steel or cast iron and are slightly recessed to allow for the surrounding surface to be extended over the lid. This provides a seamless finish to the surface of Queen’s Walk, maintaining the aesthetics of the historic area which is extremely important.

Adaptability

The adaptability of these Retractable Telescopic Feeder Pillars makes them suitable for all outdoor environments, including busy, high profile locations such as The Queen’s Walk. Most importantly, the ‘pop up’ nature of the units provides a safe and high quality pedestrianised surface with a safe power supply. The PUPS01 units supplied here features 1 x single phase 125 amp socket with electrical interlock.

LB Facilities Contractors also installed Pop Up Power Supplies units within the Market Place area of The South Bank. PUPS05 units were supplied for this area with 8 x single phase 16 amp socket with electrical interlock, plus 2 x PUPS01 units featuring 2 x three phase 63 amp socket with electrical interlock.

The Southbank Centre Food Market is a haven for all food lovers, offering a huge choice of street food and drinks. The retractable units supplied here are perfect for providing power to each stall, and for specific events that take place throughout the year. Festivals, performances and comedy events all take place here regularly so need power access temporarily but frequently.

Pop Up Power Supplies provides an extensive range of high quality, retractable service units and bollards with electricity, water and data connection points. They are perfect for public spaces and are particularly suited to areas of historic value or those that require a professional and discrete finish.
