Meeting the housing challenge with modern timber construction

  • 15 Sep 2015

BM TRADA’s timber frame consultant Lewis Taylor is hosting a CPD presentation highlighting the ways in which modern timber construction methods are helping counteract the UK’s housing shortage.

Meeting the Housing Challenge is a half-day seminar scheduled to take place on October 15th at the Building Centre featuring case studies from leading architects, manufacturers and housing associations.

Keynote speaker Alan Benson, Senior Manager of Housing Strategy for Greater London Authority will discuss housing strategy for London, while other sessions include timber systems for mixed housing development, controlling supply chain costs in Housing Association projects and high rise urban timber living.

The RIBA-approved CPD also coincides with the New Ideas for Housing exhibition at the Building Centre, run jointly between New London Architecture and The Mayor of London.

The exhibition is showcasing innovative ideas to improve the speed, scale and quality of London’s housing supply.

Meeting the Housing Challenge opens at 1.30pm for coffee and reception with a 2pm start time. After the seminars, an opportunity will be provided for drinks and networking from 5pm.
